After School Program
What is the After School Program?
The Jefferson Elementary After School Program is a program offers to students in grades kinder - 5th grade. All students who attend the after-school program will receive a healthy snack and place to work on their homework. They will also have an opportunity to participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities such as: art, science, homemaking skills, cooking, etc. Priority enrollment is given to pupils identified as homeless or foster youth.
Is the After-School Program just like school?
Your child will get help with their homework from a qualified staff member and they will also have a chance to learn through activities such as cooking, painting , sports, team building games, music, dance, and many other activities that support the school curriculum.
Students will be expected to follow the school rules, and respect their after school teachers in the same way they would respect their teachers during the day. Students who choose to break the rules may be dismissed from the program.
How will my child get home?
The program is open everyday until 6:00 p.m. They must walk home or be picked up by 6:00 p.m. everyday. Students will only be allowed to walk home at the times their parents have specified on their application.
Does my student need to come every day?
In order for your child to stay enrolled in the program we ask that students attend daily. Priority is given to those students that can attend daily and that are able to stay for the entire duration of the program. If your child won't be able to attend please give us a call at (559) 647-2900 or send a note to room 700.
